EMS Week 2024: Celebrating Our Brave First Responders
May 19 – 25 is EMS Week, a time to honor and celebrate the brave work of those on the front lines of medical emergencies.
“Our EMS team is essential for providing expert, timely care when every minute matters,” said Candice Smith, MSN, RHCNOC, CCRN, Deaf Smith County Hospital District CEO. “Their ability to deliver skillful and compassionate care, even in extreme or high-pressure situations, sets the standard for reliable emergency care.”
When emergency situations arise, Deaf Smith County Hospital District’s EMS team responds without hesitation to rapidly assess patients’ care needs, stabilize patients if necessary, and quickly transport them to the care they need. The team also plays a central role in our award-winning community paramedicine program. The program provides care for patients after a hospital visit and ensures everyone in our community has access to the resources they need for a successful recovery.
For 50 years, EMS Week has served as an important reminder of the skill and dedication it takes for EMS workers to keep their communities safe.
