Hereford Regional Medical Center Invites You to Free Diabetes Education Event
By Jeff Barnhart, CEO
This month, on March 10, Hereford Regional Medical Center will host a free hour-long education session for our residents with diabetes on nutrition and wound care prevention and treatment.
Date: March 10
Time: 6:30 to 7:30 PM
Where: Patient education room, Hereford Regional Medical Center, West 15th Street, Hereford
Cost: Free
Led by our dietician and certified wound care nurse, the program will teach you how to make healthy food choices and the importance of good nutrition in diabetes management.
It will also discuss the importance of wound prevention and treatment. This is particularly critical for patients with diabetes because nerve damage may lead to a reduced or complete lack of feeling, which means you may not notice when a wound occurs or requires attention. In fact, about 80,000 adults with diabetes undergo a leg or foot amputation each year because of a non-healing wound. Most of those wounds started with a simple ulcer. Treating these ulcers early and with the most appropriate wound healing techniques is critical to avoiding amputation.
This education is free to anyone in the community. It’s part of our commitment to your good health. More information is available from our Facebook page.
Stay well.
