PRESS RELEASE: Deaf Smith County Hospital District Expands WorkSmart Program

August 8, 2022 (Hereford, TX) – Deaf Smith County Hospital District today announced expansion of its WorkSmart program to include employee wellness. The expanded program will provide employers in the region with a trusted health care partner to provide confidential, comprehensive health and medical screenings for interested employees.

“The WorkSmart employee wellness program is the latest step in making Deaf Smith County Hospital the preeminent health care provider in the region while also providing employers a reliable partner to help decrease absenteeism and improve employee satisfaction,” said Jeff Barnhart, CEO. “We know how important early identification and intervention are to health outcomes, and from our community paramedicine program to our WorkSmart program, Deaf Smith County Hospital District is going beyond the four walls of our clinic and hospital to make sure every county resident has the care they need.”

Through the WorkSmart employee wellness program, employees can access blood sugar and cholesterol screening; analysis of kidney, liver, and thyroid function; blood pressure, allergy, and tobacco screening; and PSA testing. Based on the screening results, employees will be offered the opportunity to schedule additional screenings or treatment, if needed.

The WorkSmart employee wellness program is partnering with the Hereford division of Brandon & Clark, the region’s leading industrial services provider. DSCHD plans to partner with additional employers to bring preventive care to more employees in the region.

“Brandon & Clark’s commitment to the health and well-being of its employees is to be commended,” said Barnhart. “We’re delighted to partner with such an employee-friendly and forward-thinking company.”

Deaf Smith County Hospital District’s WorkSmart program has long served employers in the region. Through the Physical Capacity Profile program, employers and employees can prevent workplace injuries by properly matching employees’ physical abilities to their new job. WorkSmart also performs U.S. Department of Transportation-required physicals, employee drug and alcohol testing, and onsite flu vaccinations. More information on the program is available at dschd.org/worksmart.
