November 30, 2021 (Hereford, TX) – 2021 is Hereford Regional Medical Center’s centennial anniversary.

“For 100 years, we have been a proud part of this community,” said Jeff Barnhart, FACHE, CEO, Deaf Smith County Hospital District. “We started with just an inpatient hospital, and today, we are a thriving health care system with a health clinic, rehabilitation program, EMS, Medicare Wellness Center, and variety of inpatient and outpatient specialty services. We look forward to continuing to grow our services over the next 100 years to keep meeting the needs of Deaf Smith County and beyond.”

Opened as Deaf Smith General Hospital in 1921 as a 21-bed hospital on West Second Street, a new facility was built in 1924 on East Third Street. Today, the hospital on West 15^th Street is a 40-bed, Level IV trauma center that provides labor and delivery, general surgery, specialty, and rehab services and also includes EMS and primary and preventive services.

It’s a privilege and a responsibility to be a rural health care provider, and we couldn’t do it without the support of our community.”
