Generous Donation From L’Allegra Funds Purchase of Equipment to Help COVID-19 Patients

November 12, 2020 (Hereford, TX) – Hereford Regional Medical Center thanks L’Allegra for its generous donation of $22,000 to the hospital. The gift supported the purchase of equipment to help COVID-19 patients. With L’Allegra’s gift, HRMC purchased six additional vapotherm machines that deliver high-velocity oxygen and help patients avoid intubation and mechanical ventilation.

“With COVID-19 infections increasing not just locally but across the state, our hospital is seeing an increase in hospitalized patients,” said Jeff Barnhart, CEO, Hereford Regional Medical Center. “We are extremely grateful to L’Allegra for its generous gift to the hospital, which funded the purchase of respiratory equipment that is proving indispensable in caring for our severely ill COVID-19 patients.”

Hospitals across the region are experiencing a surge in COVID-19 patients. Deaf Smith County has 155 active cases, as of Nov. 9, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. More than 30 fatalities in the county are attributed to COVID-19.

“L’Allegra is pleased to support our local hospital,” said Tamara Vogel, Project Christmas Card Chair, L’Allegra. “Our group prides itself on civic engagement and partnering with groups that share our commitment to a vibrant, healthy, and flourishing community. The fact that Hereford Regional Medical Center was able to use our donation to better care for patients with COVID-19 is extremely rewarding.”

L’Allegra is a local women’s study club with a mission “to study topics of general interest to the members, to carry out projects of civic and social improvements and to promote good fellowship among members.”
