Deaf Smith County Hospital District to Host Combined Bicycle Safety & Health Fair Event
Deaf Smith County Hospital District will host and sponsor a bicycle safety and health fair Wednesday, May 15 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Hereford Civic Center. The event is free and open to the public.
“Going beyond the walls of our hospital to connect our community with important health and safety resources is a vital part of our mission to advance health in Deaf Smith County,” said Candice Smith, MSN, RHCNOC, CCRN, Deaf Smith County Hospital District CEO. “We encourage everyone with children to attend and for our community’s business leaders and members to consider supporting the safety and wellbeing of our little ones.”
The event combines both a bicycle safety event and a health fair. The bicycle safety activities and resources include a free helmet and fitting for every child in attendance, bicycle giveaways, door prizes, raffles, a bicycle rodeo, cotton candy, and other fun activities and features. The health fair will feature healthy living educational resources designed to equip attendees with tips and information to build healthy habits and lifestyle changes. Our award-winning Community Paramedicine team will also be in attendance handing out basic first aid necessities along with raffling emergency safety baskets.
Community donations are encouraged to supply bicycles for the giveaways, and to ensure that each child who attends receives a free helmet. Donation forms are available below, and donors can contact Vicky DeLaCruz at 806-349-9136 for more information.
The event is also sponsored by Amarillo College and the Texas Medical Association as part of its “Hard Hats for Little Heads” program.
