April 7, 2022 (Hereford, TX) – Governor Greg Abbott re-appointed Jeff Barnhart, FACHE, CEO of the Deaf Smith County Hospital District to the advisory council on trauma and emergency medical services, known as GETAC.
“I’m grateful to continue my service on GETAC, to the governor, and to the state of Texas,” said Barnhart. “I’m honored to have the opportunity to continue representing the perspectives of hospitals and rural communities on the council and am proud of the work we do to ensure that everyone in Texas, no matter where they live, has access to a high quality, coordinated system of care after a traumatic injury or illness.”
Created by Sunset legislation in 1999, GETAC is tasked with recommending changes to the state’s EMS and trauma systems to ensure that communities receive comprehensive and efficient emergency care.
With the reappointment, Barnhart will serve on the council through the end of 2027.
Deaf Smith County Hospital District is a Level IV trauma center and operates the county’s emergency medical services.
