Press Release: Information on Upcoming Roman Project Meetings

July 10, 2026 (Hereford) – The Deaf Smith County Hospital District Board of Directors and leadership encourages the community to attend an upcoming public meeting on the proposed Roman Project, a collaboration of Google, Intersect, and Blattner to construct data centers in Deaf Smith County. The community-wide meeting is scheduled for July 14, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at the Hereford Civic Center with representatives from Google, Intersect, and Blattner providing information on the proposed data center project. This meeting is the best opportunity for community members to learn more about the project, express their opinions and perspectives, and ask questions about timeline and impact.

“The proposed data center project is generating a great deal of community interest and attention, and we want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to have their voice heard in the most appropriate forum,” said Candice Smith, RN, MSN, CEO, Deaf Smith County Hospital District.

The next meeting of the Deaf Smith County Hospital District Board of Directors will be held Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at the hospital. The board will consider Google’s tax abatement proposal as part of the Roman Project. It will not consider other aspects of the data center project, such as water use or environmental impact. As with all meetings of the Deaf Smith County Hospital District Board of Directors, this meeting is open to the public, and the agenda will be made public on the hospital website in advance. Each meeting of the board provides an opportunity for public comment, and any member of the public may attend. The hospital district adheres to all requirements of the Texas Open Meetings Act and the Texas Public Information Act.

“As the region’s healthcare provider and a major employer, we are engaged in learning about the data center project and exploring its potential economic impact along with everyone in our community,” added Smith. “We always welcome respectful public discussion and civic engagement at all our hospital district board meetings and hope to see many of our neighbors at the community-wide open house July 14.”
