Hereford Regional Medical Center’s Swing Bed Program is a tool used to assist patients in adjusting and/or returning to their home environment.  The goal of the program is to assist the patient in regaining their independence and assure them they can return to their homes safely.  The Swing Bed Program is another level of the care process.

A patient is moved from an acute care service after three days, if stable, into the swing bed program per doctor’s order.  If needed, patients receive the services of physical, occupational and speech therapy.  Patients may be moved into the Swing Bed Program from another acute care facility with acceptance of your local physician.  The ultimate goal of HRMC’s Swing Bed Program is to enable patients to return home safely and thrive in their environments.

Our Surgical Department

HRMC’s surgical services department has state-of-the-art operating rooms and an endoscopy suite designed to promote excellence in patient care and inpatient/outpatient surgery. We specialize in General, Orthopedic, and Endoscopy procedures.

PRE-OP
This is the beginning of our team procedure, where your medical history is reviewed, instructions about your procedure are given, the Operative Permit is reviewed and your IV is started. Your Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist will also meet with you and your family here to answer any questions about your anesthesia.

OPERATING/PROCEDURE ROOM
After being pre-oped, you are brought here and introduced to the rest of your surgery team and your procedure is verified and checked before the anesthesia is started. Our state-of-the-art facilities include:
• Two General Operating Rooms
• One Endoscopy Suite EGD/Colonoscopy Special Procedure Room

POST-ANESTHESIA CARE UNIT
This is where you recover after surgery until your vital signs are stable. After meeting all of the medical criteria, you are discharged by your Physician and escorted to your car by your RN. 

EXTENDED CARE
Our Medical/Surgical Unit is an extension of the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit for those patients needing additional care for observation or pain control.

THE ENDOSCOPY SUITE

Colonoscopy, one of our most common endoscopic procedures, has become an annual event for millions of people as part of a regular health screening protocol. Early and accurate diagnoses of colon cancer and other diseases of the bowel, may significantly impact outcomes.
